The Russian mining and steel producer Evraz Holding has announced the commissioning of a new crushing unit at its subsidiary Kachkanarsky GOK (KGOK). The new unit, which has been supplied by Sweden-based equipment producer Sandvik, was installed at KGOK in line with Evraz's investment program directed at increasing the plant's production capacity and raising the quality of its products.

The new unit will be in charge of crushing vanadium-rich iron ore before its beneficiation. The new unit is able to process 1,000 mt of ore per hour, twice as much as the units of the older generation.

The commissioning of the new equipment will allow KGOK to reduce its energy costs, its expenses for raw material preparation and also the production costs of concentrate and finished products - i.e. sinter and pellets.
