European commercial vehicle registrations up six percent in May

In May this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) increased by six percent year on year to 160,550 units, rising for the fifth consecutive month on year-on-year basis, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). In May this year results were diverse among the major markets, with Germany seeing a decrease of 9.1 percent and France a decline of 5.6 percent, while new commercial vehicle registrations in Spain rose by 30.1 percent and the UK saw a rise of 17.4 percent, all on year-on-year basis.

In the first five months of this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU totaled 832,782 units, up 11.6 percent on year-on-year basis. Spain (+34.1 percent), the UK (+22.6 percent), Italy (+7.5 percent) and Germany (+3.4 percent) recorded increases, while registrations in France decreased by one percent, all year on year.
