European commercial vehicle registrations up 8.7 percent in August

In August this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) increased by 8.7 percent year on year to 113,865 units, rising for the eighth consecutive month on year-on-year basis, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). In August this year, growth was sustained across all commercial vehicle segments and southern European markets confirmed positive momentum with increases of 21.2 percent in Italy and 43.6 percent in Spain, following by a rise of 15.8 percent in the UK, while Germany saw an 8.7 percent decrease, all on year-on-year basis. 
 
In the first eight months of this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU totaled 1,308,788 units, up 11.8 percent on year-on-year basis. Spain (+37 percent), the UK (+19 percent), Italy (+10.3 percent), Germany (+2.4 percent) and France (+0.8 percent) recorded increases, all year on year.
