European new commercial vehicle market shrinks 32.4 percent in 2009

In 2009, new commercial vehicle registrations in Europe (EU-27 plus EFTA) declined by 32.4 percent compared to 2008, affecting all segments and all countries, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).  In total, 1,706,996 commercial vehicles were registered throughout the year.
 
 Meanwhile, in December 2009 new commercial vehicle registrations in Europe decreased by 10.6 percent year on year, reflecting a more moderate drop in demand for light commercial vehicles than in the months before.
