In April this year, new commercial vehicle registrations grew by 5.1 percent year on year in the
European Union, totaling 151,571 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). The month counted on average the same number of working days across the region compared to the same month of the previous year. Looking at the major markets,
Spain (+54.6 percent) and
Italy (+15.2 percent) both posted double-digit increases and
France recorded a 0.4 percent rise, while new commercial vehicle registrations decreased by 2.1 percent in
Germany and by 3.1 percent in the
UK, all on year-on-year basis.
In the first four months of the current year, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU was up 8.7 percent year on year, with 595,170new registrations.
Spain (+43.3 percent),
Italy (+14.4 percent), the
UK (+7.1 percent) and
Germany (+6.7 percent) recorded increases in vehicle registrations compared to the same period last year, while
France (-0.4 percent) saw its market contract on year-on-year basis.
