Annual inflation in the euro area was 0.2 percent in June this year, down from 0.3 percent in May, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In June 2014, the annual inflation rate was 0.5 percent.
Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was 0.1 percent in June, down from 0.3 percent in May. In June 2014, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was 0.7 percent.
In June this year, annual inflation in the EU-28 increased in eight states, fell in thirteen states and remained stable in seven states as compared with May. The lowest inflation rates were observed in Cyprus (-2.1%), Greece (-1.1%), and Romania and Slovenia (-0.9%), while the highest were observed in Malta (1.1%) Austria (1%) and Belgium and the Czech Republic (0.9%).
