Euro area industrial output up 0.6 percent in October from September

In October this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, as compared with September, while industrial production in September had declined 0.3 percent in the euro area and remained stable in the EU-28, both on month-on-month basis. In October this year compared with October 2014, industrial production increased by 1.9 percent in the euro area and by 2.4 percent in the EU-28. These figures are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union. 
 
As compared to September, in October this year the production of durable goods increased by 1.8 percent in the euro area and was up by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, while the production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.4 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the EU-28. Meanwhile, the production of intermediate goods fell by 0.1 percent in the euro area and rose 0.1 percent in the EU-28, month on month. In October of the current year, production of capital goods increased by 1.4 percent in the euro area and was up by one percent in the EU-28 area, while production of energy increased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and by 0.8 percent in the EU-28, all month on month.  
 
Among the member states, in October the highest month-on-month increases were registered in Lithuania (+11.3 percent), the Netherlands (+4.3 percent), Portugal (+3.9 percent) and Ireland (+3.4 percent) and the largest decreases in Greece (-1.2 percent), and Denmark and Finland (both -0.9 percent).
 
As compared to the same month of 2014, in October this year production of non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.7 percent in the euro area and by one percent in the EU-28, while production of intermediate goods increased by 1.5 percent in the euro area and was up by 1.6 percent in the EU-28. In October of the current year, production of durable consumer goods increased by 4.2 percent in the euro area and by 3.3 percent in the EU-28, production of energy rose by 0.2 percent in the euro area and was up by 1.2 percent in the EU-28, while production of capital goods increased by 3.5 percent in the euro area and by four percent in the EU-28, all year on year.
 
Among the member states for which data are available, in October this year the largest year-on-year decreases were registered in the Netherlands (-2.6 percent), Estonia (-2.1 percent), and Greece (-1.9 percent) and the highest increases in Ireland (+14.6 percent), Lithuania (+6.5 percent), and the Czech Republic and Croatia (both +6.4 percent).
