In September this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial
production decreased by 0.5 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the EU-28 as compared with August, while industrial
production in August had increased by one percent and 0.6 percent month on month in the respective areas. In September this year compared with September 2012, industrial
production increased by 1.1 percent in the euro area and by 1.2 percent in the EU-28. These figures are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the
European Union.
As compared to August this year, in September the
production of capital goods decreased by 1.0 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the EU-28. Meanwhile, in the given month,
production of non-durable consumer goods declined by 0.2 percent in the euro area but rose by 0.4 percent in the EU-28, while
production of intermediate goods dropped by 0.8 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-28. In September this year, durable consumer goods fell by 2.6 percent in the euro area and by 1.6 percent in the EU-28, while
production of energy increased by 1.3 percent in euro area and 0.4 percent in the EU-28, all month on month.
Among member states for which data are available, in September this year industrial
production rose in 13 states and fell in 12. The highest increases were registered in
Ireland (+2.9 percent),
Romania (+2.4 percent), Hungary (+1.8 percent) and
Poland (+1.4 percent), and the largest decreases in
Portugal (-11.2 percent),
Luxembourg (-4.1 percent),
Croatia (-3.3 percent) and the Czech Republic (-2.8 percent).
As compared to the same month of 2012, in September this year
production of non-durable consumer goods increased by 2.2 percent in the euro area and by 1.7 percent in the EU-28, while
production of intermediate goods rose by 0.9 percent in the euro area and by 1.0 percent in the EU-28.
Production of durable consumer goods dropped by 1.3 percent in the euro area and by 1.1 percent in the EU-28.
Production of energy dropped by 0.5 percent in euro area and by 1.1 percent in the EU-28, while
production of capital goods increased by 0.8 percent and by 1.9 percent in the respective areas, all year on year.
Among the member states for which data are available, in September this year industrial
production fell in nine states and rose in 16, on year-on-year basis. The largest decreases were registered in
Luxembourg (-4.0 percent),
Croatia (-3.9 percent) and
Italy (-3.0 percent), and the highest increases in
Ireland (+11.7 percent),
Romania (+8.9 percent), Slovakia (+7.5 percent) and
Poland (+5.6 percent).
