In March this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial
production decreased by 0.3 percent in the euro area, while remaining stable in the EU-28, as compared with February, while industrial
production in February this year had increased by one percent in the euro area and by 0.8 percent in the EU-28, both on month-on-month basis. In March this year compared with March 2014, industrial
production increased by 1.8 percent in the euro area and by two percent in the EU-28. These figures are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the
European Union.
As compared to February, in March this year the
production of durable goods decreased by 0.9 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, while the
production of non-durable consumer goods was up by 2.3 percent in the euro area and by 2.1 percent in the EU-28. Meanwhile,
production of intermediate goods decreased by 0.3 percent in the euro area and remained unchanged in the EU-28, month on month. In March of the current year,
production of capital goods decreased by 0.9 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-28 area, while
production of energy decreased by 1.7 percent in the euro area and by one percent in the EU-28, all month on month.
Among the member states, in March the highest month-on-month increases were registered in
Latvia (+10.9 percent), Denmark (+4.6 percent) and
Ireland (+3.0 percent) and the largest decreases in the Netherlands (-3.6 percent), Lithuania (-3.4 percent), and Estonia (-1.0 percent).
As compared to the same month of 2014, in March this year
production of non-durable consumer goods increased by 5.7 percent in the euro area and by 4.6 percent in the EU-28, while
production of intermediate goods remained stable in the euro area and rose by 0.9 percent in the EU-28. In March of the current year,
production of durable consumer goods decreased by 1.7 percent in the euro area and increased by 0.3 percent in the EU-28,
production of energy moved up by 3.8 percent in the euro area and rose by 2.3 percent in the EU-28, while
production of capital goods increased by 0.3 percent in the euro area and moved up by 1.2 percent in the EU-28, all year on year.
Among the member states for which data are available, in March this year the largest year-on-year decreases were registered in Finland (-4.4 percent), Sweden (-1.1 percent),
Malta (-1 percent) and
Germany (-0.1 percent) and the highest increases in
Ireland (+40 percent), Hungary (+8.9 percent),
Latvia (+8.7 percent) and Poland (+6.6 percent).
