EU scrap consumption falls four percent in January

In January this year, total scrap consumption in the European Union (EU) fell by four percent year on year and was up 21.2 percent compared to December last year, amounting to 7.6 million mt, according to the preliminary data from the European Steel Association (EUROFER).

Meanwhile, in the European Union local scrap prices increased in March this year compared to February levels. For the fourth straight month scrap prices in the EU recorded a year-on-year decline in March.
