Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, has announced that in November last year the unemployment rate in the European Union member states (EU-28) was 9.1 percent, down from 9.2 percent in October and from 10 percent in the same month of 2014. This is the lowest rate recorded in the EU-28 since October 2011. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area in November was 10.5 percent, down from 10.6 percent in October and from 11.5 percent in November 2014.
In November last year, the unemployment rate in the EU-28 fell in 25 states, remained stable in Romania and increased in Austria and Finland, on year-on-year basis. Among the EU-28 member states, in November the lowest employment rates were recorded in Germany (4.5%), the Czech Republic (4.6%) and Malta (5.1%), and the highest in Greece (24.6% in September 2015) and Spain (21.4%).
Meanwhile, in November last year the unemployment rate in the United States was five percent, remaining stable compared to the previous month and declining from 5.8 percent in November 2014.
