In December last year, European Union (EU-27) flat steel exports amounted to 1.299 million mt, while long steel exports from the EU-27 totaled 0.914 million mt, as announced by the European Steel Association (EUROFER). Accordingly, overall EU-27 finished steel exports in December totaled 2.214 million mt, down 8.39 percent month on month and down 10.86 percent year on year.

In adition, in the whole of 2012 overall finished steel exports from the EU-27 increased by 4.15 percent compared to 2011. In the second half of the year, due to a base effect, the increase rate slowed for both long and flat steel products.
