EU-27 construction output up 11.8 percent in Mar over Feb

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in March this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) increased 11.8 percent as compared to February and was down by 3.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In February, production decreased 5.7 percent compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.

Building construction in the EU-27 in March decreased by 11.9 percent month on month and was down 3.1 percent compared to March 2011, while civil engineering rose by 14.3 percent from February and was down by eight percent as compared to the same month of 2011.

As compared to February, construction output in March increased in Germany by 30.7 percent, in France by 17.8 percent, in the UK by 14.8 percent and in Italy by 9.5 percent, while a decrease of 8.8 percent was registered in Romania, with a decrease of 6.8 percent in Portugal and a 1.8 percent decline seen in Spain.
