EU-27 construction output down 0.9% in Nov from Oct

According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in November last year  the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) decreased 0.9 percent as compared to October and was down by 5.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In October, production increased by 2.8 percent compared to the previous month.
 
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in November fell 0.4 percent month on month and was down 5.9 compared to November 2011. In October, production had remained stable compared to the previous month, according to the newly revised data.
 
Building construction in the EU-27 in November decreased by one percent month on month and was down 6.4 percent compared to November 2011, while civil engineering increased by 0.1 percent from October and was down 4.3 percent as compared to the same month of 2011.
 
As compared to October, construction output in November increased in Slovenia by 14.9 percent, in Romania by 5.1 percent, and in Sweden by 2.2 percent, while a decrease of 3.4 percent was registered in Italy, a decline of  2.7 percent was recorded in  the United Kingdom and a fall of 1.5 percent was registered in both Poland and Portugal
