New commercial vehicle registrations across the EU in October this year amounted to 162,901 units, increasing by 7.7 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Looking at new registrations in the major markets in the EU-27 region in October, Spain (-1.8 percent) is the only country recording a decline, while the UK (+11.1 percent), Germany (+7.2 percent) and France (+7.8 percent) indicated expansions.
In the January-October period of this year, a total of 1,599,359 new commercial vehicles were registered in the EU-27, or up 10.8 percent from the same period a year ago. Looking at new registrations in the major markets in the EU-27 region in the first 10 months of the year, Spain (-4.9 percent) was the only market to see a decline, while Germany (+19.5 percent), the UK (+17.8 percent) and France (+5.5 percent) indicated expansions.
All markets in the EU-27 posted strong growth in the new heavy commercial vehicles market except Greece (-65.8 percent) in the January-October period, leading to an overall year-on-year increase of 40.8 percent. From January to October, 262,216 new trucks were registered in the EU-27, or 32.4 percent more than in the same period last year. In the meantime, new registrations of buses and coaches were up by 26.8 percent year on year in October.
