EU steel imports in August regress to 2009 levels

According to the European Steel Association (Eurofer), in the month of August this year EU flat steel imports totaled 839,000 mt, while long steel imports amounted to 166,000 mt. Accordingly, overall EU steel imports in August totaled 1.005 million mt, down 15.89 percent month on month and down 34.65 percent compared to the same month 2011. The steel import figures in August this year indicate a regression to the levels of August 2009.
