EU quota utilization levels of Russia and Kazakhstan

In 2008, Russia utilized 72.4 percent of the revised steel quota allocated to it by the European Union (EU), while Kazakhstan utilized 80.72 percent of its EU allocation.

According to the latest statistics, Russia exported a total of 2,304,970 tons of steel products to the EU in 2008. The revised quota allocated to Russia for 2008 was 3,182,576 tons.

Specifically, Russia used 94.10 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (1,048,217 of 1,113,993 allotted tons), 76.93 percent of its plate quota (237,642 of 308,907 allotted tons), 44.34 percent of its alloy sheet quota (46,238 of 104,290 allotted tons), and 44.28 percent of its wire rod quota (145,693 of 329,010 allotted tons).

On the other hand, Kazakhstan filled 81.30 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (70,828 of 87,125 allotted tons).
