EU quota utilization levels of Russia and Kazakhstan

During the first half year of 2008, Russia utilized 45.7 percent of the steel quota allocated to it by the European Union (EU), while Kazakhstan utilized 54.51 percent of its EU quota.

According to the latest statistics, Russia exported a total of 1,385,000 tons of steel products to the EU in the period in question. The quota allocated to Russia for 2008 is 3,031,000 tons.

Specifically, Russia used 60.91 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (630,391 of 1,035,090 allotted tons), 53.52 percent of its plate quota (147,168 of 275,000 allotted tons), 16.52 percent of its alloy sheet quota (17,347 of 105,000 allotted tons), and 22.2 percent of its wire rod quota (71,916 of 324,000 allotted tons).

On the other hand, Kazakhstan filled 54.51 percent of its hot rolled coil quota (47,495 of 87,125 allotted tons).
