In December last year, new car registrations totaled 1,109,927 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 16.6 percent year on year, marking the 28th consecutive month of year-on-year growth, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In December, Spain (+20.7%), Italy (+18.7%) and France (+12.5%) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, followed by the UK (+8.4%) and Germany (+7.7%), which also performed better than in December 2014.
Meanwhile, in 2015 new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 13,713,526 units, up 9.3 percent year on year. In 2015, Spain saw an increase of 20.9 percent and Italy saw a rise of 15.8 percent, while new passenger car registrations in the France rose by 6.8 percent, with registrations in the UK rising by 6.3 percent and with registrations in Germany up 5.6 percent, all year-on-year basis.
