In October this year, new car registrations totaled 1,104,506 units in the European Union (EU), remaining almost stable year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In October, Italy (+9.7%), Spain (+4.0%) and the United Kingdom (+1.4%) recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis, while Germany (-5.6%) and France (-4.0%) performed less well than in October 2015.
Meanwhile, in the January-October period new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 12,348,502 units, up 7.2 percent year on year. In this period, Italy saw an increase of 16.7 percent and Spain saw an increase of 10.8 percent, while new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by 4.9 percent, with registrations in France rising by 4.7 percent and with registrations in the UK up 2.5 percent, all year-on-year basis.
