EU new car registrations up 6.1 percent in January-October

In the January-October period of the current year, new car registrations totaled 10,645,907 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 6.1 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). In October this year, EU new car registrations increased by 6.5 percent year on year to 1,072,837 units and were down 13.2 percent compared to September. 

In the first 10 months of this year, Spain (+18.1 percent), the UK (+9.5 percent), Italy (+4.2 percent), Germany (+3.0 percent) and France (+1.4 percent) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in October Spain posted year-on-year growth in its new car registrations, up 26.1 percent, with the UK, Italy and Germany indicating increases of 14.2 percent, 9.2 percent and 3.7 percent respectively, while new car registrations in France decreased by 3.8 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
