In April this year, new car registrations totaled 1,191,034 units in the European Union (EU), decreasing 6.6 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
Most of the major markets saw demand fall in April, with the UK (-19.8%), Germany (-8.0%), France (-6.0%) and Italy (-4.6%) all seeing decreases. Only the Spanish market grew in April, recording a slight increase (+1.1%).
Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 5,332,854 units, up 4.7 percent year on year. In this period, new passenger car registrations increased by 8.0 percent in Italy, by 6.1 percent in Spain, by 2.5 percent in Germany, by 2.0 percent in France and were up by 1.1 percent in the UK, all year-on-year basis.
