The latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show that
European Union (EU) new car registrations recorded in November this year totaled 926,486 units, falling by 3.4 percent month on month and down 10.3 percent compared to November 2011, indicating a year-on-year decrease for the 14th consecutive month.
In November this year, the UK was the only major market to post year-on-year growth with an increase of 11.3 percent, while the other major markets indicated downturns in the given month, ranging from 3.5 percent in Germany and 19.2 percent in France to 20.1 percent in Italy and 20.3 percent in Spain.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of this year, new car registrations totaled 11,255,094 units in the EU, with a decrease of 7.6 percent from the same period of 2011. In particular, in the first 11 months of 2012, the UK was the only market to post significant growth (5.4 percent) while Germany saw its demand fall by 1.7 percent, and Spain (-12.6 percent), France (-13.8 percent) and Italy (-19.7 percent) posted significant contractions, all compared to the same period last year.
