On November 27, the European Commission announced that, unless a review is initiated, the antidumping (AD) measures on dead-burned (sintered) magnesia will expire on May 13, 2011.

The institution said that, in accordance with the relevant legal procedure, EU producers may lodge a written request for a review by advancing sufficient evidence that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in a continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury. The deadline for such a request is three months before the expiration date of the measures.

The product in question is mainly applied to the steelmaking open hearth and electric furnaces which are used for making the sintering furnace bottom, tamped liner, magnesia brick and chrome-magnesia brick. Furthermore, they are also largely used on heating, rotary and electric steel furnaces.
