Indian steel producer Essar has announced that its Projects Minerals & Metals Asset has won a second contract from Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India (SAIL) for a project at the SAIL Bhilai steel plant in Chhattisgarh. This order follows a contract awarded by the SAIL Rourkela plant in Odisha last year.

The new contract covers equipment erection, testing and commissioning of basic oxygen furnace (BOF) and continuous casting plant at the Bhilai plant. The total value of the contract awarded by SAIL is INR 850 million ($14.12 million). The basic oxygen furnace will consist of three converters, and the continuous casting plant will have four casters; two billet casters, one billet and bloom caster and one beam blank caster. The project is scheduled to be completed in 14 months.
