Essar to build pellet plant in Indonesia

PT Essar Indonesia, a member of India's Essar Group, has announced that it plans to invest $500 million to build a steel plant in Indonesia in order to strengthen its industry presence in the country. Essar plans to build a pellet plant with a production capacity of about 2 million metric tons. Essar Indonesia began commercial operations in 1997 and is one of the biggest producers of cold rolled steel in the private sector in Indonesia. The company has a rolling capacity of 400,000 metric tons a year.
