Gujarat, India-based steelmaker Essar Steel has announced that it will supply API 5L X-70 quality pipes to India's largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company Gas Authority of India (GAIL) for part of the 500-km stretch of the Jagdishpur-Phulpur-Haldia Pipeline Project Phase-1B.

According to Essar Steel, the project is of national importance since it connects the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, making them future-ready in terms of an oil and gas pipeline infrastructure. The scope of the supply involves the manufacturing and coating of the pipes, as well as delivery to the various stockpiles along the pipeline route.
