Erdemir reaches agreement with labor union, strike decision lifted

Turkish Metal Union has announced that on July 23 it reached an agreement with Turkey's largest integrated steelmaker Erdemir within the scope of collective labor agreement negotiations affecting 4,800 workers. Accordingly, Erdemir will apply a wage increase of 11 percent for the period between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013.

The union decision for strike action supposed to come into effect on August 2 at Erdemir has been lifted following the settlement reached by the parties.
