Kazakhstan-based mining group Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Plc. (ENRC) has announced that in the second quarter of this year its ferroalloys division saw a 40 percent year-on-year increase in its total ferroalloy output to 465,000 mt, including 358,000 mt of ferrochrome - up 30.2 percent year on year, reflecting the continuing recovery in demand.

Meanwhile, in Q2 2010, ENRC's iron ore extraction was 33.3 percent higher compared to Q2 2009, amounting to 11.15 million mt of iron ore, and remained at effectively full available capacity following a continued recovery in demand and production through 2010. During the period in question, the company's iron ore division registered 4.6 million mt of primary concentrate production - up 27.9 percent, 2.41 million mt of saleable concentrate production - up 7.5 percent, and 2.04 million mt of saleable pellet production - up 61.6 percent, all compared to Q2 2009.

"We are pleased to report increased production in all of our divisions in the second quarter of 2010. In Kazakhstan, for our principal products, we are operating at levels above those of the second quarter of 2008, which was a period of high demand," ENRC's CEO Felix J Vulis said.
