EMZ reports production results
The EMZ group of enterprises, which comprises Ukrainian steelmaker Enakievsk MZ and Ukrainian-Swiss company Metalen, in August 2006 produced 181,400 metric tons of pig iron, up 5.6 percent, 210,130 metric tons of crude steel, up 3.9 percent, and 186,029 metric tons of billets, up 15 percent, compared to August 2005. During the same period, the EMZ dispatch of finished steel products rose 6 percent to 221,527 metric tons. In January-August 2006, EMZ produced 1.47 million metric tons of pig iron, up 16.8 percent, 1.7 million metric tons of crude steel, up 16.8 percent, 1.5 million metric tons of billets, up 24 percent, and dispatched 1.666 million metric tons of finished steel products, up 17.1 percent from the first eight months of 2005.
