At the end of June this year, 242,000 persons worked in metal production and processing in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, the figure was 1.8 percent more than at the end of June 2011.
Employment in the manufacture of metal products in Germany rose four percent to 497,000 persons in June this year compared to the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, the number of employees in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers increased three percent year on year, to 740,000 persons.
