Employment in German metal product manufacturing up 2.9% in Sept

At the end of September this year, 244,000 persons worked in metal production and processing in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, the figure was 1.2 percent more than at the end of September 2011, while it remained stable compared to the end of August this year.

Employment in the manufacture of metal products in Germany rose 2.9 percent to 502,000 persons by the end of September this year compared to the same time in 2011, while it was down 1,000 persons compared to the end of August this year. Meanwhile, the number of employees in the production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts increased 2.6 percent year on year to 749,000 persons, down 2,000 persons compared to the end of the previous month.
