Emergency shutdown stops production at ArcelorMittal’s Indiana plant

ArcelorMittal’s facility in Burns Harbor, Indiana experienced an emergency shutdown Friday morning caused by a transformer failure. According to officials, the plant’s power station was also shut down as a “precautionary measure”.

Although ambulances were called to the scene, no injuries were reported.

The facility operates two blast furnaces and has a 5 million ton annual capacity.
