Egypt's Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Tuesday, October 14 that it has imposed temporary tariffs on rebar imports to protect domestic rebar manufacturers. The 7.3 percent temporary tariff will be valid for a maximum of 200 days at a minimum of EGP 290/mt ($40.5/mt).

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in November 2012 Egypt imposed a 6.8 percent temporary import duty on rebar and wire rod imports for almost seven months at a minimum of EGP 299/mt. The relevant safeguard duty investigation was terminated without any affirmative decision in November 2013.
