DOC publishes preliminary results of AD review on OCTG from Japan

The US Department of Commerce (DOC), in response to requests by the Unites States Steel Corporation (USSC), initiated on September 22, 2004, an antidumping administrative review on oil country tubular goods (OCTG) imported from Japan. The review covered four manufacturers/exporters: JFE Steel, Nippon Steel Corporation, NKK Tubes, and Sumitomo Metal Industries (SMI). The period of review was August 1, 2003, through July 31, 2004. Since NKK and SMI made no shipments to the US during the period of review, the DOC decided to rescind the review with respect to NKK and SMI. On the other hand, the DOC preliminarily determined that adverse facts available should be applied to the remaining respondents, neither of which participated in this administrative review. The following weighted-average dumping margins exist for the period August 1, 2003, through July 31, 2004:

Producer Margin

JFE Steel Corporation...................44.20 percent
Nippon Steel Corporation................44.20 percent
