Demand supports Japan’s vehicle output

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) disclosed that the country's vehicle production rose 2.8% year on year to 870'967 units in April due to brisk demand at home and overseas. JAMA indicates that domestic vehicle demand increased 7.4% to 405'036 units in April and exports rose 6.7% to 428'373 units. Passenger car output amounted to 723'910 units last month, up 3.3% year on year, while bus production reached 6'258 units, an increase of 31.8%. On the other hand, truck production fell 0.5% to 140'799 units. Exports of passenger cars rose 6.6% to 363'231 units. Exports of buses increased 4.1% to 58'274 units, while exports of trucks jumped 48.6% to 6'868 units.
