CSN’s iron ore shipments in Itaguai halted following weekend accident

CSN Mineracao, the mining arm of Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN), halted iron ore shipments at its terminal at the Itaguai port, located in the city of same name in the state of Rio de Janeiro, following an accident during the weekend.
 
CSN didn’t immediately respond to questions from SteelOrbis, but a media report from Reuters said both market sources and the Rio de Janeiro state port authority, Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ,) confirmed the accident but did not provide details. Reuters said a ship from Tata Steel was waiting to load iron ore from CSN before heading to the UK.
 
CSN Mineracao is one of Brazil’s top iron ore exporters, just behind mining giant Vale.
