Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that its board of directors has decided to invest in a production line of high grade non-grain-oriented electrical steel sheets, which are used as the key material in the manufacture of high efficiency motors. Major equipment includes an annealing and pickling line, a reciprocating cold rolling machine, and an annealing and coating line. The project will commence in August this year and is scheduled for completion in May 2014.

The new production line will be capable of producing various high grade non-grain-oriented electrical steel sheets with thickness ranging from 0.35 mm to 0.50 mm.

CSC also announced that its blast furnace No. 4, which began its operations in November 1996, will be shut for revamping. The project will commence on August 1 this year and is scheduled for completion on July 31, 2013.
