In Q2 2011, Russian mining and steel producing group Evraz saw its crude steel output drop by 1.2 percent compared to Q2 2010 and by 3.6 percent compared to Q1 2011, to 4.232 million mt.
In April-June this year, Evraz's pig iron production increased by 5.3 percent year on year and by 4.5 percent compared to Q1 2011, to 2.929 million mt. In the second quarter of the year, Evraz registered an 1.7 percent increase year on year in its production of rolled steel products to 3,888 million mt, which was down 2.2 percent compared to the first quarter of this year.In April-June of this year, Evraz increased sintering ore output by more than three times year on year and by 2.1 times compared to January-March, to 0.743 million mt.In Q2 2011, Evraz produced 1.675 million mt of iron ore concentrate - up 13.9 percent year on year and 14.3 percent more than in the first quarter of this year.The coking coal production of Evraz increased by 3.7 percent in April-June this year compared to the same period of last year and by 5.2 percent compared to Q1 2011, rising to 1.682 million mt. Output of pellets in the given period rose by 3.8 percent year on year to 1.421 million mt, but declined by 6.3 percent compared to January-March 2011.
