Costa Rican scrap exports down in volume and revenue in September

Costa Rican exports of scrap in September declined 31.3 percent, year-on-year, according to information from the country’s export promotion agency, Procomer.

Scrap exports in September reached 7,484 mt, down from 10,906 mt a year ago.

Top exports destinations in September included South America and Asia, which received 4,871 mt and 2,448 mt of the product, respectively. Only 165 mt of scrap was exported to Central America.

Export revenue fell by 66.5 percent, year-on-year, from $2.7 million in 2014 to $938,800 in September this year.
