Corus to sell aluminium operations by end of year

The Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus, having steel production facilities both in England and Netherlands for automotive and construction industry as well as food and can packaging for food industry has been in preparations to sell its aluminium business for the last couple of months. Company officials state that the sale is scheduled to be concluded by the end of the year and having received interest from a large number of companies, are pretty confident to conclude the sale succesfully. It is estimated that the value of aluminium operations to be sold is around £500-600 million. Cours is aiming to focus on carbon steel production and via selling its aluminium businees at the same time gets itself a stronger financial position.
