Corus officially opened a new rail link connecting its steelmaking facility at Corus Teesside Cast Products (TCP) to the Steel export Terminal at PD Ports at Teesport last Tuesday. The new rail link is part of the 10 year productivity Partnership between Corus and PD Ports that aims to simplify the export of steel slab. During the last nine months Corus invested over ₤2 million in the new rail link and wagons to shorten the distance which the steel slabs travel in order to be load onto ships in the dock. The opening of the new rail line will result in quicker loading times and significant annual cost savings.
