Several international agencies reported last week (based on information disclosed by British firm Stadco) that Corus, the Anglo-Dutch steelmaker owned by India's Tata Steel, is to launch a new steel plate production line in Russia in 2009.

In an interview with SteelOrbis regarding the issue, Mrs. Annanya Sarin, head of Corus's Corporate Press Office, stated, "Corus is continually looking at opportunities in countries such as Russia and other fast growing Eastern European markets." However, Mrs. Sarin added that it was not possible to disclose any specific information on the issue at the current stage.
