According to Italy's national statistics office (Istat), in June the seasonally adjusted confidence index in Italian construction increased to 85.6 from 82.2 in May, increasing by 4.13 percent and reaching the highest peak since 85.3 points in November 2011. Assessments on order backlog and/or construction plans stood still, while employment expectations increased.
In fact, the index increased remarkably only in the field of specialized construction works, up 7.26 percent month on month. Meanwhile, the confidence index dipped in civil engineering by 1.89 percent and also decreased in building construction by a margin of 1.85 percent, both month on month. In the latter field, assessments on order backlog and/or construction plans showed a significant deterioration.
