Confidence index for Italian construction declines in October

According to Italy's national statistics office (Istat), in October this year, the seasonally adjusted confidence index for the domestic construction sector decreased from 86.1 in September to 81.4, down 5.45 percent month on month. Assessments on order backlog and/or construction plans decreased slightly while employment expectation registered a sharp decline after having grown substantially in September.

The index dipped in the field of building construction, down 11.63 percent, but also in civil engineering, down 5.24 percent and specialized construction works down 4.55 percent all on month-on-month basis.
