Confidence in Italian construction sector recovers in May

According to Italy's national statistics office Istat, in May this year the seasonally adjusted confidence index in the Italian construction sector increased by 4.3 percent from 78.4 in April to 81.8, indicating a recovery after the month-on-month declines observed in March and April.

In May, the index rose by 8.7 percent in the building construction sector and by 7.5 percent in specialized construction works, while it increased less sharply, by 2.1 percent, in the field of civil engineering, all month on month.
