Colombia’s Cerrejon achieves coal export target for 2011

Colombia's largest coal exporter Cerrejon LLC, equally owned by major global mining companies BHP Billiton, Anglo American and Xstrata, has achieved its export goal of 32 million mt for 2011, according to media reports.
 
The company stated that, with the final shipment loaded, its total coal exports for 2011 reached 32.03 million mt, compared to 31.4 million mt in 2010.
 
As SteelOrbis previously reported, following the bombing attack aimed at Cerrejon's railway, the company had said that the export target of its mine was threatened, but that they were optimistic about meeting the target for 2011.
