Colombian ferronickel exports up 5.4 percent in Q1

In the first quarter this year, Colombia exported 33,206 mt of ferronickel, increasing by 5.4 percent, with a value of $136.31 million, down 24.7 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In March this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 9,858 mt, decreasing by 27.8 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $40.14 million, down 49.1 percent, both compared to March 2013.
 
In the first quarter of the current year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 56,826 mt, down 12.4 percent, with a value of $168.5 million, down 26.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In March this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 18,379 mt, decreasing by 17.3 percent, and were worth $51.32 million, down 44 percent, both compared to the same month of 2013.
