Colombian crude steel and long steel production decline in 2016

Colombian crude steel production in 2016 declined 9.2 percent, year-on-year, to 1.2 million mt, the Colombian Committee of Steel Producers said this week.
 
According to the committee, Colombia produced 97,427 mt of crude steel in December, 1.7 percent down, year-on-year, and 6.05 percent down, month-on-month.
 
December’s long finished steel output was 102,483 mt, up 5.8 percent, year-on-year, and up 1.91 percent, month-on-month.
 
However, the country produced 1.3 million mt of long finished steel for the full-year 2016, down 6.6 percent, year-on-year.
