Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.20 million mt in January this year, decreasing by 3.10 percent compared to December, according to the company's announcement. 12 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.
According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in January, with shipments to Japan accounting for 45.57 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 20.18 percent of the total.
